There is more to BRAT

The BRAT Club prides itself on being a fun and friendly club with lots of  activities to participate in throughout the year. This could be our annual organised awards night, post training coffees, or the many ad-hoc social meetups. Keep an eye on social media and newsletters for more info!

Get Social…
Club Awards Night – The highlight of the year is the annual awards night in November, where everyone comes together to celebrate the successes of our junior and senior triathletes, runners, track and field athletes and volunteers across the season.
Turn up and you might just see a local sporting celebrity presenting.

Black Tie Ball – Our “Snow Ball” is an opportunity to get those party frocks on, hit the dance floor and let your hair down after a hard year of racing! A fun evening of drinking, dancing and partying with those who you have been training with across is always popular with our senior members.

Race Series / Post Race Socials – Our road running series varies each year, picking some of the local races across a range of distances that are regularly attended by our members. Points are awarded for each race result, with a minimum number of races required (including events such as Cross Country, Road Relays, Birmingham Half Marathon and Suicide Six). Post race we are normally keen to celebrate (or commiserate) at a local pubs or go for a pizza and show of our medals and tell the war stories!

Mountain Biking Weekends – Bi-annual trips to Wales or another trail centre are a great opportunity to ride or run in a different location. These events are open to all, whether novice or experienced. Members might ride for part / some or all of the day, and many just come for a weekend walking. They are extremely popular and always well attended. See the BRAT MTB Facebook.

Trips Abroad – With the growing popularity of marathons and triathlons abroad, there are groups who will often travel to Mallorca, Tenerife, Gran Canaria for bike training, as well as Paris, Berlin and Frankfurt for marathons. If you are interested in finding out about these trips, post to our social media (links are in the page footer).

BRATaccino – The Saturday 10:00 Cannon Hill session is well attended and post-training “BRATaccino” is an opportunity to get to know club members. Often flagged at the end of the training sessions, make sure you come along and introduce yourself, where you might get more conversation that whilst running up and down a hill in Cannon Hill Park!

We do all enjoy our sport – and the sense of support we get from others in the club. But it’s so much more than just about finding training partners  – it’s about being part of the big BRAT family and feeling part of a healthy community.

Family time in the park

Developing a healthy relationship with sport from a young age is an important goal of our engagement with juniors – or they can just come with their parents!

How many BRATs does it take?

Sometimes with the best laid plans, and best preparation it’s literally all hands to the pump to keep the group moving on a Sunday ride.
