Welcome to the Athletics Page!

BRAT has almost a century of Athletics and Running history and pedigree in its ancestry; over the years Harbourne Harriers, Borough of Sandwell AC, Rowheath Harriers and Birmingham Rowheath AC have all been amalgamated into what is the BRAT club today. Since becoming part of BRAT in 2010 we now offer an extensive range of training and competitive opportunities for both Track, Field and Road Running which are unrivalled in the local area.

Competing

Athletics

After successive promotions BRAT currently competes in Division 1 of the Midlands Athletics League with a joint men's and wonen's team.

Cross Country

BRATs men's team compete in Divison 1 of the Birmingham & District Cross Country League. The League includes some of the strongest clubs in the wider Midlands area and is widely acknowledged as one of the best leagues in the country. Our women's team compete in the Midland Women's Cross Country League which comprises all clubs from the Midlands region. Our Juniors compete in the West Midlands Young Athletes Cross Country League (age grps U11 to U17). In recent years we have hosted the National Cross Country Championships and the Warwickshire Cross Country Chamionships (twice) in nearby Cofton Park.

Road Relays

Each Spring and Autumn we enter several men's and women's teams into the Midland Road relays in Sutton Park and have consistently qualified for the National Finals in recent years by finishing among the top few Midland teams.

Open Track and Field meetings

Every summer we promote a series of open meetings at the Munrow Sports Centre. These meetings attract athletes from across the Midlands region and beyond and have built up and impressive reputation and following. The meetings also incorporate BMC (British Milers Club) races which give a very high level of competition and mean we have electronic timing for track races. We normally use EDM (electronic distance measurement) for the throw events.

5k Open Road race series

Now firmly established in the local road race calendar our summer series of three 5k road races are excellent value and attract runners from all the local clubs. One of the races is usually nominated as the Warwickshire County 5k Championship race and is also part of the Warwickshire Road race League.

Warwickshire Road race League (WRRL)

Every summer running clubs in Warwickshire compete in the WRRL over a series of 10 local road races. Points are scored for the Club by every runner who finishes so the more BRATs who enter the more we score. See www.warwickshirecountyaa.co.uk
