Great news from the Warwickshire Cross Country Championships at Solihull on 7th January. Medals for all 4 senior teams which is unprecedented in Club history!
The senior women (Ellen Tune, Eloise Lee and Tona Walder) took Silver, just edged out by 2 points behind winners Bournville, while the veteran women (Caroline Rodrick, Kerri James, and Gill Brook) took Bronze medals in their competition. The senior men’s team (Ed Banks, Tim Carter, Dan Robinson, Rene Vergo) and the veteran men’s team (Martin Matthews, Jon Tune, Paddy Allaway, Mark Ince) both won Bronze medals in their joint race. A new record turnout of 30 BRAT men (out of 179 finishers) was a great show of force. We finished 3 complete teams in both categories. Individual silver medals also for Jack Gray in the U20 Men’s race and Gus Iliff in the U13 boys who along with Oli Dighton and Jacob Gollings brought the team 5th place in their race. Anne Kenchington finished 5th in the U15 Girls. Oliver Mawhinney (15th) and Ryan Lucas (26th) ran in the U17 men’s race. Well done to all who turned out and thanks to those who came to support. Thanks also to Knowle & Dorridge Running Club for hosting the event on a most interesting and testing course, and to Warwickshire County AA for organising the Championships - in particular to two of our own Nick Price the President and Richard Carney the Event Secretary who both had a long and tiring day.
