Blowin' in the wind

Men’s XC - Birmingham League, Race 2 - Cheltenham - 5th December 2015

Aerodynamics were at a premium in yesterday’s race in Pittville Park as runners fought their way round a course where the wind  was a major factor to overcome. A somewhat depleted BRAT team of 23 had taken to the start line to do battle against the other 15 teams in Division 1.

Ed Banks led the team home in 26th place, followed by Tim Carter 61, Nick Lewis 82, Mark Lawlor 94, Jon Undy 111 and Thanos Tsolakis 124, giving an A team score of 498. Well done you guys. Although we finished 12th on the day we were close enough to the teams above us that we retained 7th place overall with 2 races to go. So we are still in a respectable position, but need to consolidate in the next race to ensure we don’t start to lose ground.

The B team places were filled by Tom Walsh 131, Huw Jones 136, Rene Vergo 142, Toby Close 157, Ben Beaumont 167, and Andy Piddington 181, for a total of 914 points and a very creditable 6th place. The remaining BRAT finishers were Pete Matthews 185, Abayomi Adedimeji 191, Chris Grimley 197, Jort van Mourik 214, Nathan Smith 217, Ed Hartley 241, Rob Ryan 242, Richard Carney 245 and David Sansom 251.

Well done to everyone for digging deep and grinding out those results. There were a few happy BRATs with PB finishing positions among our results. Bad luck Nick and Karl who were forced to drop out with injury concerns.

Biggest thanks of the day goes to Raggy Gray for turning out to support and to fulfill our duty at the finish funnel, meaning that the rest of you could all enjoy racing.
