For the final race of the season the weather was mild with little or no wind – ideal for cross country racing. Like the last course at Burbage Common, Perry Park is flat and (for once) was reasonably dry. Unfortunately the fact that it was half term meant that many of our regular runners were away, but those who did run acquitted themselves well.

Our strongest team was the U13 boys where Daniel Rose (34th), Daniel Hickl (39th) and Joe Thompson (46th) ran a particularly competitive race and we managed to put a few strong local clubs such as Halesowen, Tipton and Sparkhill, behind us in the team results.

In the U11 Boys, Benjamin Godsal finished 87th. In the U11 girls we had Abigail Thompson in 83rd and in the U13 girls Caitlin Harte in 88th. The U15 boys saw Alex Hickl run a solid race, finishing in 42nd. Very well done to all those who ran and to all the athletes who have turned out over the course of this XC season (and to parents for getting them to the start line!)

Particular thanks to Richard Carney, Nick Price, Lisa Godsal and Steve Thompson for fulfilling the club’s obligation to provide officials/funnel marshals for this meeting.

The coldest day of the season with a flat muddy course with plenty of icy water so well done to the 12 athletes that competed. The flat course didn’t suit many of our athletes who prefer a few hills.

Our strongest teams were the U13 boys where we had a team of 4 athletes and the U11 girls where we also had 4 athletes.

Our best placed athlete was Hugo Villalobos Finigan in 26th shortly followed by the improving Daniel Rose in 34th.

The top team performance was the U13 boys with Hugo and Daniel joined by Daniel Hickl 57th and Joe Thompson 76th. Special praise goes to Joe who lost his shoe but continued gamely on!

In the U11 Boys, Jack Powell finished 61st. In the U11 girls we had Abigail Thompson in 85th, Ines Villalobos Finigan 90th, Lily Smith 112th and Poppy Close in 113th.

In the U13 girls we had Caitlin Harte in 105th.

The U15 boys saw Jacob Gollings in 49th and Alex Hickl in 52nd.

Well done to all to all the athletes and I hope you will finish the season off at Perry Park on February 15th.

A chilly day in Smethwick, but no rain and a perfect course with some decent hills and good for spectators. We had 14 athletes competing. Our strongest teams were the U11 girls where we had a team of 5 athletes and the U13 boys where we had 4 athletes. Many of our athletes improved on their previous placings with the hills suiting our young athletes.

The team were led home by Ines and Hugo Villalobos-Finigan, who were 46th and 17th respectively in the U11 girls and U13 boys. Our U15 athletes Jacob Gollings and Felicity Robertson-Shore were both 37th in their races.

The top team performance was the U13 boys with our top runner Hugo Villalobos-Finigan finishing 17th, Daniel Rose finished in 42nd with Joe Thompson 47th and Ryan Valentine 85th.

In the U11 Boys, Jack Powell finished 79th. In the U11 girls we had Ines Villalobos Finigan 46th, Abigail Thompson 79th, Kiera Valentine 104th, Lily Smith 111th and Eve Godsal (on her debut) finishing 120th.

In the U13 girls we had Caitlin Harte in 104th.

The U15 boys saw Jacob Gollings in 37th and Alex Hickl in 57th. Felicity Robertson-Shore was 37th.

Well done to all to all the athletes and I look forward to seeing some of you at the Warwickshire XC Champs on 3rd January 2015 and the rest at the next West Midland League event on 18th January 2015.
