Fine Margins...

Another exceptionally close meeting on Sunday 3rd July saw the BRAT team finish a disappointing 5th out of 6 but by the tightest of margins - just four and a half points off 4th place and less than 30 off third!
That's two meetings on the trot where we have been the team which has lost out in a tight finish.
Unfortunately what this does mean is that we will need a minor miracle to escape relegation when we travel down to Cheltenham at the beginning of August - our fate, as they say in football, is no longer in our own hands! We have to finish in the top two slots and then rely on Cheltenham or Halesowen finishing in the bottom two places. Stranger things have happened and the BRAT team will keep on battling to the end.
Performances of the day were Jenny Scott winning the A string Javelin, whilst the B string winners were Simon Lanckham (steeplechase), Sam Hart (discus), Alex Clegg (javelin), Arnes Trotter (400 hurdles) and Anne Kenchington (3000m).
A tough day all round, of the 34 men's events (A and B combined), six guys did a total of 27 of them. When the new track arrives we really do need to have a very hard recruitment drive - these guys were practically crawling away from the trackside on Sunday!
Onwards to Cheltenham, and upwards next season.
The results are here and Martin's photos are here.
