BRAT win three medals at the Midland Counties Championships

Despite only a very small number of our senior/U20 athletes contesting the Midlands Championships on June 11/12th at Nuneaton, the club still won 3 medals. Leading the way was our star field eventer Jonathan Briggs who gained silver medals in both U20 Discus and Shot Put with throws of 44.66m, a personal best, and 13.41m respectively. He narrowly missed a further medal in the hammer, placing 4th with a throw of 46.77m.

Our other medallist was Prince Ayeh who recorded a personal best of 16.35s in the senior 110m Hurdles , coming 3rd.

Petra Bediako, returning this year from injury, finished 7th in the final of the senior women’s 200m in 27.69s. BRAT’s other finalists were Ed Banks and masters Dan Robinson in the senior men’s 5000m, coming 8th in 15m 29.15s and 14th in 16m 14.72s respectively.

Meanwhile David Lima continued his search for the perfect conditions to secure the Olympic qualifying time in the 200m, by competing in the International Games in Geneva , Switzerland on June 11th, but alas the wind was unfavourable and he came 4th in the 100m in 10.41s and 5th in the 200m in 20.88s.
