WELCOME!

The Birmingham Running Athletics & Triathlon Club (the BRAT Club) is a dynamic and successful running, athletics and triathlon club with bases in both the north (Sutton Coldfield) and south (Moseley/Selly Oak) of Birmingham. Much of the success of the Club stems from its open, welcoming, friendly, and inclusive nature. We are a "participation for all" club, and welcome new members of all ages (from 8 to 80+) and abilities (from complete novices to experienced international athletes).

Athletics: The BRAT Club offers a full range of track & field, cross country and road running disciplines, with coached training sessions and competitions at both local and national level.  The Athletics contact is Richard Carney (vice chairman: athletics).  Athletics information is at www.birminghamrowheath.co.uk

Triathlon: We welcome everyone who wants to try out or compete in multisport events such as aquathlon, duathlon and triathlon.  We have a strong track record in supporting novices through to their first triathlon and beyond.  We also do well at top level competition: at the 2009 National Club Relays, the BRAT Club gained the most top podium places, being national champions in women's, men's vet 40, men's vet 50 and open events.

Juniors welcome: We actively encourage and provide coaching for juniors at any of the athletics disciplines and multisport events.  We have a strong junior programme with dedicated coaches and specific junior training sessions.

Northern Based Midweek Swim Session Duncan 19/3/2010 14:15
Hi All Thank you for your feedback and interest in a replacement venue for College Highs session. After trying 9 different venues we have finally managed to get confirmation of a replacement session (thanks Sarah T for taking on much of this work) . However this will now be on a Tuesday at 7.00pm as opposed to Monday and the new venue is very similar to the Saturday venue (Barr Beacon) in that it has a 4 lane 25m long pool, plenty of showers without scolding water etc etc OK Suspense over, the new venue is………………………………. Barr Beacon School !!! Who very kindly having discovered that we were looking for another venue have given us one of their sessions that was previously open to the public, as they like the fact the club is open to all ages, all abilities etc and we look after the facilities so wanted to try and help us out. So a big thank you to all existing users in creating such an impression. The new sessions will start after Easter on 13th April and as such we have decided to cancel all Monday sessions at College High with immediate effect. Thanks Duncan

BRAT Annual Awards (2009 season) and Dinner 2010 Southwtr 18/3/2010 12:05
Dear BRATs, Many of you will be aware that the Club has had a club-wide voting system for the Annual Awards over the last few years. This year, for the 2009 season awards, however, we have reverted to the original BRAT Club Awards system of a BRAT Annual Awards Subcommittee (consisting of the Chair of the Race Subcommittee, the two Club Captains, and 5 other senior / experienced Club Coaches) to make the decisions. This will bring the triathlon side into harmony with the athletics side, which also have an awards committee. The highly meritorious nominations (see below) were made on the basis of a complete review of all the results entered on the BRAT website for races in 2009, with reference to 2008 results where necessary. Well done to everyone who has been nominated; you all had a top season! Particular thanks to all the nominated volunteers for your excellent service to the club. We hope that everyone can make the awards ceremony. The awards decisions have also been made and will be revealed on the night of the BRAT Awards Dinner 27th March(remember, bookings for the dinner close Friday 19th - please book if you have not done so already - it promises to be a fantastic evening as usual, with great food, a band, and a guest of honour who is one of the TOP triathlon personalities and driving forces IN THE WORLD!!) Hi everyone Like Sainsbury's, Tesco are doing a Voucher for Schools and Clubs scheme. So please save any that you get and pass them on to Rosa, who is registering with both. And -if you don't do anything else with them, you can also pass on your used, recyclable, ink cartridges to Tesco and earn even more vouchers for equipment for our juniors. Cheers Pat
