Another successful BRAT T&F open event

Thanks to the many BRAT volunteers, led by Gordon Ainsley, there was another very successful track and field open event on 8th May.  Competitors from many local clubs, but also from as far away as Liverpool, Oxford and Chesterfield fought for honours in disciplines ranging from 3,000 metres to high jump, hammer and javelin.  The weather conditions had turned rather cool and windy, so PBs were hard to come by.  Particularly heartening performances were seen from many young BRAT athletes competing in multiple events.  Here we see Lucy clearing the bar in the U13 high jump.

Swan Pool open water swimming

Swan Pool BRAT MEMBERS Swimming – commencing 13 May 2013. BRAT open water swimming on Mondays evenings will be from 6.30pm – 7.50pm. This is open to BRAT MEMBERS only. Special conditions apply - see forum post.

BRAT Club webpage on the BGSC website:  NEW BRATCLUB ID CARD SYSTEM FOR OPEN WATER SWIMMING: We are trying a new system to ensure that all our open water swimmers are safe and accounted for at each open water swimming session. All open water swimmers must be paid up BRAT club members. Everyone who wishes to swim must have their BRAT Club card with current photo (automatically generated with payment of your 2013 membership - LOGIN and click on the MEMBERSHIP CARD  button under the USER MENU on the right). You must bring your membership card with you to every open water swim session - no card, no swim, no exceptions. The BRAT Club membership card must be given to the designated volunteer observer before going swimming and collected again after swimming. Failure to collect your card may mean that your next of kin is contacted - and cause unnecessary heartache!
