An unfortunate crop of injuries meant we were without several regulars for the final race at Wolverhampton, so we completed the league season but not exactly with a bang. Thankfully the guys who did make it to that start line gave it their all and ensured we completed 2 teams on the day. Several new boys along with some old campaigners decided to make a name for themselves and delivered really good performances, which is encouraging for the future.

The A team scorers were; Ed Banks 28, Jon Undy 95, Kelton Aldridge 96, Rene Vergo 102, Huw Jones 122, Mark Liptrot 134. A Team total 577

Although the A team finished a disappointing 14th on the day and we dropped from 7th to 9th place in the final league standings, the result kept us well clear of the relegation places (despite Athletics Weekly reporting otherwise). The B team came home in 7th place on the day and held on to 4th place overall, a very creditable result for the season.

The B team scorers were; Ben Beaumont 140, Toby Close 147, Andy Robbins 152, Nick Forrest 158, Adam Western 165, Martin Cleaver 177. B Team total 939

Martin Ludford 199, Owen Doherty 205, Richard Carney 229, David Sansom 233 were the other finishers.

Well done to all those who did turn out to represent the Club, and a big thank you to Jort, Rob and Raggy for supporting and looking after the discs at the finish. Good to see people getting involved.

Congratulations also to the BRAT women’s team who had a memorable day as you have no doubt heard, finishing 3rd in the Midland Women’s League and picking up Bronze medals. A massive achievement, which will really help to put the Club on the map; well done Geoff and the girls!

Birmingham University were League winners for the season, ahead of Loughborough in second place and Cheltenham third.

Finally Jack Gray gets another mention for picking up the award for 2nd individual over the course of the season, well done Jack!

A bumper turnout of 27 BRAT men and a near full strength team at Coundon Park gave us a much improved result in the 3rd League race, which was run on the mainly flat and fast 3 lap course as usual.

The A team returned their best score of the season of 264 points to finish 8th on the day and move us up into 9th place overall, while our strong B team scored 652 points to finish 6th on the day and move up to 7th overall.

Jack Gray had a great race to finish 2nd which set things up nicely and he was soon followed home by Ed Banks 22, Dan Robinson 42, Chris Ashford 58, new boy Ben Hall 65, and Nick Lewis 75. Well done guys, great results all round.

The B team places were taken by XC debutant Karl Welborn 87, Martin Matthews 92, Tim Carter 96, Rene Vergo 121, Eliot Ward 125, and Thanos Tsolakis 131 showing that we have good strength in depth. Well done you guys.

There was also sterling work by another 15 BRATs, many of whom finished ahead of other teams’ A and B team counters which also helps our result: Richard Gray 145, Huw Jones 149, Chris Grimley 156, Tom Walsh 166, Toby Close 167, Martin Ludford 171, Paul Clarke 181, Abayomi Adedimeji 193, Dan Burwood 194, Ben Beaumont 195, Simon Bowler 208, Michael Gilbride 237, Paul Dugmore 249, David Sansom 256, Charlie Hanson 264. Great work guys, keep it going.

Many thanks to all supporters for standing out in the bitterly cold conditions, and particularly to Richard and Jort for sorting out the discs and paperwork at the finish.
