Ryland Center Bromsgrove Run Session Plans
The runs sessions are all about improving your skills and fitness to enable you to complete a triathlon safely and efficiently. The different stages are designed to prepare you for the BRAT Birmingham Triathlon festival on 20 May 2012

16 Jan to 26 Feb |
Skill work, technique, starting to build endurance (run/walk for beginners), gradually increasing distances (run walk ratios), introducing interval work. More demanding sets will be provided for experienced triathletes. |
| 2 Build |
27 Feb to 8 April |
Increase interval work introducing timed pace judgement, bench mark test session. Stage goal: novices to be able to cover the distance by the end of this stage. Experienced triathletes - increasing speed work. |
| 3 Peak |
9 April to 13 May |
Continue to work on distance and speed work. Repeat bench mark test from the end of session 2 to measure improvements. |
| 4 Taper |
Race Week!
14-20 May
|
Extended warm up, shorter race pace efforts with longer recoveriesbetween each. Sessions should not be exhaisting and should leave feeling fairly fresh. |
