WELCOME!

The Birmingham Running Athletics & Triathlon Club (the BRAT Club) is a dynamic and successful running, athletics and triathlon club with bases in both the north (Sutton Coldfield) and south (Moseley/Selly Oak) of Birmingham. Much of the success of the Club stems from its open, welcoming, friendly, and inclusive nature. We are a "participation for all" club, and welcome new members of all ages (from 8 to 80+) and abilities (from complete novices to experienced international athletes).

Athletics: The BRAT Club offers a full range of track & field, cross country and road running disciplines, with coached training sessions and competitions at both local and national level.  The Athletics contact is Richard Carney (vice chairman: athletics).  Athletics information is at www.birminghamrowheath.co.uk

Triathlon: We welcome everyone who wants to try out or compete in multisport events such as aquathlon, duathlon and triathlon.  We have a strong track record in supporting novices through to their first triathlon and beyond.  We also do well at top level competition: at the 2009 National Club Relays, the BRAT Club gained the most top podium places, being national champions in women's, men's vet 40, men's vet 50 and open events.

Juniors welcome: We actively encourage and provide coaching for juniors at any of the athletics disciplines and multisport events.  We have a strong junior programme with dedicated coaches and specific junior training sessions.

February 7th 2010 - SGM approves Club merger: The Club's Executive Committee has been established and will hold office until the AGM 2011:  Chair: Tauny Southwood, Vice Chair (athletics): Richard Carney, Vice Chair (triathlon): Duncan Hough, Treasurer: Mark Hirsch, Secretary: Brian Tilley, Coaching Coordinator: Nick Price, Marketing and Promotion Coordinator: Martin Ludford, Club Development Coordinator: Pat Cox

We have a couple of options available, so to sound out interest and to get a feel for what members want from this swim can all interested parties email me on duncan@kweenb.co.uk so they can be included in developments and what they want from the swim. Likewise if the interest is not thee then we can decide not to take it any further Swimming at Colleg High tonight IS on. Thanks Duncan

New BRAT Club Vests at Tri-1st Southwtr 5/3/2010 17:30
Dear BRATs, We are now officially registered with UKA and England Athletics as the Birmingham Running, Athletics & Triathlon Club. The first event in the new club kit will be the road relays on 20th March. The new BRAT Club athletics/running vests are available from Tri-1st (293 Harborne Lane Harborne, Birmingham B17 0NT). Please note - all paid up members of BRAC (i.e. owners of a BRAC vest) are eligible for a free vest. Richard Carney has given a list to Damo in Tri-1st. Please bring ID (UKA registration card or driver's licence). For all other BRAT members, the vest is available for purchase at £16. Please remember that, due to a manufacturers error, the women's sizes are mislabelled! For example, if you are usually a 10, try on a 12 - it will probably fit, and not just because it is the off season.
the northern introduction to triathlon coxpc 3/3/2010 15:44
Hi everyone We have lots of lovely volunteers for this event, but would welcome anyone else who'd like to join in - the more the merrier! And Phil's designed a rather gorgeous flyer which needs giving out and hanging up in as many places as possible. But the one person we are lacking and who is essential to the whole operation is a pool lifeguard. So - please, we need you to make the whole thing work! Cheers Pat
sainsburys and the swimathon coxpc 1/3/2010 14:54
Hi everyone a reminder from Rosa about Sainsbury Active Kids. The club has registered as a clubmark accredited club for the Sainsburys Active Kids 2010. So can you please collect all your vouchers if you shop at Sainsburys and hand them to either Andy or Rosa Teagle, or for those in the North of the City can hand them to Duncan and he will arrange to pass them on to Andy or Rosa. The more vouchers we collect will hopefully allow us to get more kit for the juniors so please make your best efforts. The scheme starts on 27th Feb Thanks rosa It's the Swimathon the weekend of 16 - 18 April. If you fancy a 5km (or less!) swim, and being sponsored to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Foundation, then why not have a go? Join me at Tivvy on 18th - can't on 17th because it's the Great Northern introduction to triathlon afternoon! If you don't want to swim, then maybe you'd like to sponsor me? all the best Pat coxpc@blueyonder.co.uk
Re:No swimming tonight at College High - 1st March Duncan 1/3/2010 14:38
All This is sounding like a none stop record but I have been speaking to College High and whilst they tell me the pump has been fixed today they need to regulate the water temperature and cant guarantee this will be done in time for this evening. So rather than anyone facing tropical waters again it has been decided to cancel this weeks session rather than members being slowly boiled alive Swimming will be back on next week Im assured
